The salary offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. Job title may be adjusted accordingly.

About the Position 

The Centre is seeking a Director of Finance & Strategy to join its team of passionate and enthusiastic professionals. In this pivotal role, reporting directly to the General Director, the job holder will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Centre’s financial activities and contributing to the development and execution of its long-term financial strategy.

Responsibilities of Financial Controller:
  1. Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure alignment with the Centre’s KPIs and strategic objectives.
  2. Monitor and report on financial performance, offering insight and guidance to support informed decision-making.
  3. Develop and execute long-term financial sustainability plans in collaboration with the General Director.
  4. Oversee financial aspects of national and EU-funded projects in coordination with the Research Office.
General qualifications and requirements
General qualifications and requirements
  1. Professional qualifications in financial and/or management accounting (e.g., ACA, CPA, CFA, CIMA, etc.) are required. 
  2. Project Management qualifications and experience will be considered an advantage. 
  3. A minimum of 20 years of proven experience in senior financial leadership, ideally in fast-paced and complex environments. Experience in a research and innovation environment (such as University, Research Center, VC, startups) will be considered an advantage. Experience in international organisation will also be considered an advantage.
  4. Familiarity with financial reporting, EU funding, grants, and regulatory frameworks.
  5. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
  6. Proven track record of leading financial transformation and sustainability planning.
  7. Language requirements: Excellent written and oral English-language skills will be required.

  1. Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently.  
  2. Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, having the ability to deal confidently and politely with enquiries.
  3. Very good analytical skills coupled with attention to detail.  
  4. Dynamic, adaptable, hands-on and results driven.
  5. A team player with an ability to work independently and under pressure. 
  6. High levels of commitment, energy, and drive.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
